There is also a safety argument presented against making safety sensitive jobs subject to the FLSA. The pressure would be "everyone hurry up and finish before we have to pay OT."
Opinions on new OTR hourly pay?

Yup. You left when it started getting bad. I was there from April 2010 to 2013. Went to Nabors drilling, then it crashed and went back to MBI in early 15 and stayed to middle of 16. Crap hole

I'm going to answer with math
CPM: (3,000×0.62)÷(3,000÷62)=38.44
Hourly: ((3,000÷62)×25)÷(3,000÷62)=25.00
It's so they can pay you less.... They assume you have a third grade level of mathematics comprehension. If your company does this then they are open to screwing over drivers for better margins...Last edited: Jul 22, 2022

I saw the writing on the wall. They could still give me full time plus plenty of OT, but they changed water to percentage pay and were about to change crude to percentage pay as well, and that just wasn't a comfortable feeling knowing how shaky everything was. When they broke it down based upon my performance at review, I would have made more money on percentage, as I was killing it. The problem was I knew every day more LACS were going online and that the days were limited that they could keep me moving like I was... so I bailed, went to manage a warehouse in TX while going to college, made a few life changes, ran an expediting company along the way, got 3 associate's and 2 bachelor's in 3.5 years, and now find myself in the front office of another trucking company.
MBI went under a couple years back now.Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -

I've noticed you recommend YRC often and I've also seen a bunch of people say they are on the verge of bankruptcy. I don't know one way or the other but I am interested in your opinion. Are they a good company compared to fedex or fedex subcontractors? ThanksChinatown Thanks this.

I get paid by the hour right off of my log. From when I go on duty till I go off duty. Most of the time I like it. Best Benefit is it is easy to calculate what they owe you on payday.

Drivers are exempt from overtime requirements, again this is well established.
