I would love to do another one, but I’m not spending 35-40k on a project truck, which is exactly what most of them are,
You cannot be afraid to spend money a lot of old trucks breakdowns are an owners old fault trying to trip over dollars to pick up dimes, rubber air hoses are cheap, I replaced every single one of them when I pulled every corner down to the spindles, yes I could of replaced the one wheel seal that was bad here and the one slack that was bad there and the set of a cam bushings on the other corner that was bad, but none of it is really expensive, so do it all. And I’d probably laugh if you offered me 100k for the truck now.
what do I know I just run one every day, (or Atleast the days my lazy ### works)

KW started the aero cab in 1994, though you could still order the 60” modular in stand up until 2001 and flat top I believe was 2008, you can still order a flat windshield 40” kw but most primadonnas aren’t going to deal with a modular bunk.
i want to say Pete started the unibilt about the same time, although a different design with just the wider rings, still made the bunk look separate, the ultra built stand ups were a little bit later on thoughVampire, Another Canadian driver and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I’m located in dfw and am listing my 06 freightliner century with a S60 14.0. No emissions (proper delete)
engine is rebuilt a long with a bunch more. Rebuilt ac last week
It’s a basic looking truck, but it works everyday you want it to.
and by rebuild I don’t mean a basic inframe. That was done, along with all gears in the front cover etc injectors etc etc etc lol water, fuel, oil pumps air compressor starterLast edited: Jul 26, 2022

You say youve only spent a smidge under $7000 in repairs in 3 years on your 2019 and thats only 2 cents a mile.......but how much have you spent in payments/insurance in those 3 years compared to what an older truck would be?

I'd be more worried about whose going to be driving your truck than new vs. used. Trucks new or old cost money, but one bad driver will bankrupt you quickly. As carriers fight to get meat in the seat, good drivers are hard to find.

If you wait 6 months there will be cheaper options. Rates are down, people will start getting out or trying to find company work. Second chip shortage is starting to ease up. 6 months from now there will be more new trucks, so used prices will go down.
Curious how much down time have you had with your current newer truck?
Either way good luck.Vampire, Opendeckin, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this. -
yep, typically the older trucks are a little bit cheaper in the long run.Vampire and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

94-99 because emissions and computers.
Right.
Like it has nothing to do with paper logs.
Show me the difference between a 99 Classic XL with a 60 and a 2009 Classic XL with a 60. Oh, that's right. The log.Another Canadian driver, supergreatguy and Last Call Thank this. -
And he listed a whole bunch of ECM trucks. N14: ECM. 60: ECM. Even a 6NZ has an ECM.
If he were to truly want a mechanical truck, he would have been talking about NTC400 Big Cams, KTAs, or a pre-95 3406Bs. His listed years were all fuel-injected with ECMs and just happen to be e-log exempt.kuzima93, Another Canadian driver, supergreatguy and 1 other person Thank this.
