Truck passed. Trailer, which is a ‘21 didn’t get a sticker because somehow one of my slack adjusters measured at 2 1/2 and the rest were at 1 1/14. I asked around and a lot of people said it’s likely they screwed me over from passing both the truck and trailer. They told me to get it fixed when I get home and sent me on my way. Report shows brake out of adjustment and that an automatic air brake adjustment system fails to compensate for wear. I went back and everything looked normal. What are the odds that the auto adjuster failed? Trailer was annual’s last September. Two greasy mechanics were at the back of my trailer while the DOT officer was doing my truck. When I went back to the scale house to get my license and paperwork, the whole office turned around and looked at me as if they were talking about me. I only bring that last part up because it felt like I got screwed and they knew it too. Trucks were on the scale and the officer running it even turned around to give me a glance.

There is no citation number under the violation, but I’m worried this is going to degrade my carrier score. Is it possible I check my adjusters and head back to another scale house to get the trailer inspected again?

No way a 2021 trailer could be out of spec.
    It's a brand new trailer.

Don't be too sure. Some years ago I hooked to a preloaded Crete trailer that was nearly new, just about two weeks. It had been loaded several times previous to me getting it.

One side of one axle had no brake shoes. No springs, either. Factory failure.

    NEVER take anything for granted.

Just cause its new dont mean it can't be wrong... That said, I think some inspector is carrying a wrench in his back pocket.

He would have known had it been something like that.
Had a recent annual. No brake issues.

As for DOT inspectors we all know the game they play. Quotas an shenanigans

Well what does the brake stroke measure? It should be easy to verify yourself.

Visually, will distance of brake pad to brake drum give a sign that the slack adjuster is off?

An 11 month old yearly inspection is not recent.
