I read your post, and you are claiming pre-ECM, yet you specified years that implied e-log exempt instead. Now you claim pre-emissions, but you aren't including 2000-2006 in the search? The only difference in a 1999 and a 2000 manufacture date is the e-log requirement, so you tell me... would you buy a 2000 that requires e-log?

Go back to page 1 and read my first post it clearly states my main objective is to find a truck without the DPF/DEF. I don’t even mention a computer. I don’t care about the elog that’s what I have now. And staying in Texas I don’t run into HOS problems anyway.Bean Jr. and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

Sure... then go to your second post where you specifically mention computers:
Tired of computer issues = main objective to avoid trucks with ECM.Vampire, Another Canadian driver, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
If it was the second post it’s clearly not the main objective, that would be the first post. And it really doesn’t matter anyway, you’re acting like the ecms in 90’s model vehicles( semi or not) is the same as what we have today. It’s not even close. Vehicles are almost reliant on computers now, but not then. I just finished helping my cousin redo his 96 lightening that has a “computer”, it’s not the same as tearing down down a 2020 f150Bean Jr. and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

And the post says more mechanical than computer, not 100% absent of computers.Bean Jr. and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

No, I'm acting like the ECM in a 1999 Classic XL 12.7 is the same as the ECM in a 2000-2006 Classic XL 12.7. You are the one who specifically excluded 7 model years that would have met your claimed objective while not meeting the implied objective, yet you continue to deny the implied objective. Nobody is looking specifically for 1999 or older trucks to use OTR unless their objective is to avoid e-logs, as by the time you put the money and effort into making them as reliable as a new truck (reman engine, trans, clutch, rears, air system, cooling system, fuel system, electrical system, lighting, interior, etc.), you have spent the same amount of money (and get lower fuel economy for a higher cost per mile).
Oh, yeah... the DOT knows this, too, and will comb through your logs and receipts for any discrepancies because they have the impression that anyone specifically avoiding e-logs is doing so in order to run illegally.Last edited: Jul 27, 2022
Another Canadian driver and Rideandrepair Thank this.
