Ya quite possibly. I’m not set on there being an issue, just wanted to see what others thought. It’s on the bottom end of the specs at idle so it’s a bit concerning but I’m sure my own paranoia is contributing.

Same exact problem with my c15 acert bxs. Fresh rebuild with new oil pump. ##### idles hot at 20 psi. My cummins n14 idles 15-18psi. Almost no difference.

I have a MSX as well. After a complete out of frame platinum rebuild I was having dangerously low oil pressure in the mid 20s . Never run a Cat below 30 psi at operating temp idle! After days of diagnosing it was the wrong bolts in the Jake/IVA housings. MSX are a bridge motor. They have an oil bridge going from the exhaust side of head oil main to the Jake/IVA housing. The Cat platinum rebuild kits have been supplying the wrong bolts for bridge motors. They have machined mid sections for oil passage. Just swap out the 3rd bolt back with a 1/2" x 5.5" x 13 thread Cat grade 8 bolt. Oil pressure is at 40 psi at hot idle and 60 psi at highway speeds. Hope this helps. I know I was getting extremely frustrated. It actually came to me in a dream. Haha. Yes you know your a gearhead when you dream of work.Last edited: Aug 12, 2022
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
I've just been running it since this last post. No problems

You talking about the special bolts that the ivas slide down ?

I know this is an old post but figured it might help someone.
I’d say your rods and mean bearings weren’t torqued correctly. If you don’t get the correct crush on the bearings it’s just like having worn out bearings and that will cause low oil pressure. -
If your gauges are electronic, make certain your alternator is putting out the correct voltage.
