This is more of a truck stop lunch counter story than anything but thought I would share it with Ya'll I'll try to keep it short.. I stumbled across the Rag bag surfing the interweb... about a mouth ago.. I wanted the motor out of it because it's a 3408 with a brake saver but it's 1200 miles away in .PA.. so I figured it was gonna cost me 3500 just to get the crap box home to pull the motor and then I gota deal with 15 tire kickers when I want it gone after I pull the motor..
Plus I had a couple conversations with @wore out about freshing up the motor since it hasn't be lite since 1987.. so just decided F.. it forget the whole idea but the auction closed today the screen shot was 2 hrs before close so it probably brought another grand or so.. this why I asked @OLDSKOOLERnWV how he felt about K100's if I did buy it I was gonna throw the squirrel in for free that's been living in the truck I could not live with myself if I knew I left a squirrel
    homeless...
BTW THANKS for steering me in the right direction @wore out

I know .. it's probably worth restoring for sure...in the full description it said that the interior was trashed from a squirrel living in it.. there was a video of it running....But right now I'am balls deep on a giraffe with my 85 ..359..and gonna be neck deep before it's over..my other project truck haunts me everytime I open the shed door..
So it just needed it to be a organ donor. Time is my biggest problem second only to cash flow ...lol

I understand that for sure. That big bunk would make a long tall Sally looking ride, I hope whoever gets it uses every piece or restores it completely, it can be done squirrel or no squirrel lol.

I was initially laughed at when I started on this old CJ5, it set here from 1992 until about 3 1/2 years ago. Done had it running, and hoping to drive it soon. And the 58E44417-EA6C-4579-B4D3-874850914794.jpeg 73A37397-3C87-423D-BEA4-9B2BCADAB403.jpeg ney sayers are now crawl dad’n on their initial comments lol….

Yes, I like those big bunk K models too!

I kept the original AMC 304 V8. Jeep only had 29,460 original miles on it. I took the engine apart and checked the cylinder wear and the valves. 1 exhaust valve was burnt so I bought a new valve at Napa.

Every gasket and seal has been replaced along with a new timing chain / water pump / oil pump gears and shaft / fuel pump.

I was surprised it wasn’t stuck bad, it only took a good pull from a 1/2” breaker bar to turn it.

Father in law said he last drove it in 1986. He tore it apart that year to replace the tub and rebuild the chassis.

In 1992 my wife’s mother died suddenly. From what I hear they had a wonderful marriage, and he still says she was an angel.
At that point his passion for the jeep died with her….

My brother in law turned a 16’ steel dump bed down over it for years, but eventually removed the bed years ago. It set in the open with only a rotted tarp after that.

Drivetrain is original but rebuilt except the transmission, I replaced the original 3 speed with a Borg Warner T-18 4 speed.

I had the clutch and brake pedals along with the seat brackets and roll bar powder coated instead of paint for durability.

    Sorry to ramble on lol….

You not rambling.. there's another member here too that I know...That there's certain things even though it looks like it should not become a project & just be junked will roll up his sleeves and brings it back from the dead .. I have had some extensive conversations about that with him because I must be off center myself I will try to salvage something that probably should be scrapped but it tugs on my heart strings..
I'am glad you shared the story behind that CJ.. and glad you saved it from the dead.. Some of us know just how much work goes into a project like that and the challenges that go along with it that most people would never understand
That is a nice CJ .. and it's not all molested

Screenshot_20220813-073635_Chrome.jpg @OLDSKOOLERnWV.. .. I'am. sure your running low on projects.. this has your name written.all over it ... I actually saw this truck a few days ago when I was roaming around Cheddarland this week .. it's a clean looking truck .. I didn't drive it or crawl under for a complete inspection.. but it's not Jerry rigged or molested
