i signed on with a big mega, and finished the last steps (final tests, mentoring phase) and have been told they dont have a truck for me right now and theyll call me when they do.
Anyone been through this? How long should it take? I texted the account manager and havent heard back yet.
I also heard they should pay me a daily rate while I wait for it. Is there aomething I need to do in order to get that?

It might be helpful to know which mega you're talking about in case someone has some specific info, but in general, I have not heard of any of them paying a daily rate before you get a truck assignment. I think that would be unusual. If it wasn't in writing in your original offer letter, I think it's unlikely you'll get it.
I know trucks can be in short supply right now, but I'd say if a week goes by and you haven't been assigned one, you should definitely be escalating the issue.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -

Are you waiting in a motel or at home ? If a motel, probably $20/day to eat on. I would kind of be in their face daily so they don't forget about you.

I went through that. I think I waited three days. I wouldn't wait more than five days, unless they are giving you food money and paid daily for waiting.tscottme Thanks this.

What's the average time for a traffic jam? It takes however long it takes. There will be so much waiting, especially if you pull reefers, you better learn to be patient or leave.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

It doesn't pay that well if you're sitting. Dollar General maybe?
