I grew up near the infamous Flemington, nj circle. That one was freakin huge and had so much traffic. Most of the circle I encounter today are tiny in comparison.

They put one in on the highway near me. People are too stupid to understand how they work. People in the roundabout constantly stop to let traffic in and entering traffic doesn't even look half the time, just full send into it.cke, haycarter, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.

There used to be a big one in Dartmouth, NS years ago. The Micmac Rotary. That was hilarious, we used to sit in the pub at Dartmouth Inn just off the rotary and watch them crash at rush hour. Was kinda like dinner theatre. They came to their senses and took that one out, but NS and the Maritime provinces are still full of them. New Brunswick just dug up a divided 4 lane and put a traffic circle in it a few years ago. I don’t know what they were smoking when they came up with that plan.AModelCat Thanks this.

I can only imagine what one of those look like at 8:00am.

@krupa530 Well, I hear the alcohol is better in Britain..... perhaps ya gotta be half toasted to navigate such a menagerie......
Pennsylvania seems to be in love with these traffic circles of late. They just put a three or four in on Rt 222. I admit, they seem to allow traffic to flow a bit better on that road, and with each one they put in, they got a little better. But I can think of a few places elsewhere that they've put traffic circles in that just make no sense whatsoever. -
Yeah Mate, I was most likely seen as a jerk too as I preferred to USE ALL AVAILABLE ROOM and when needed, the grassy or other, sometimes, stone set inground design.
Some round-about traffic setups, there's ZERO way to avoid rolling the center piece, so, oh well, gas on it when heavy trailer begins dragging.

I grew up in Somerset County. Add the infamous Somerville circle, and the mother of them all, New Brunswick, the intersection of US Rt 1 and US Rt 130.
How about the Bayway circle in Elizabeth NJ?
Great idea under certain design criteria. If those are ignored, they are a death trap.
Since the mayor of Carmel Indiana has staked his reputation and future on them, you can bet the design criteria took a distant back seat to the political ambitions of this individual.RockinChair and wis bang Thank this. -
Do they put a blind fold on you and and hand you a tail with a pin in it before you enter that jackarse thing?krupa530 Thanks this.
