I'm both sad and excited that idle aire is gone.
Sad because I think it was a great idea.
Excited because most of the workers were jerks and omfg you cant park in that spot its ours...even though the truck stop owns it and most truckstops flat out said you could park in any space on the lot.
Where did they want us to park?
You know what really bugs me is there used to be truckstops where every single parking spot was idle aire. imagine if they pulled that crap. I remember a loves back in 08, decent sized lot, every spot *used to* have idle aire. heh. Basically everything but the control boxes was there.
In california they were known to call the cops on truckers for idling. Great pro-trucking business model, right?
I dont know what it cost them to run their business, but before they did the "price warp" special in the end, it cost basically the same to idle the truck. What's the point then? They must not've been able to make money with the special price.
What really annoyed me though, was that most companies wouldnt pay for the service. And most drivers were totally ignorant as to my argument of why they shouldve. I was told "well its your expense because its for your entertainment, because it has tv"...tv was not the main purpose of it. Not idling the truck was. But i suppose thats probably the same line of thought the companies had. People are stupid. I do know that some companies did pay for it. -
I just gave them another $10. ########.

The Petro in Kingman was still running the idle-air as of last night....
-
We have $25 left on our card, how do we use it, or get our money back? Does anyone know?
-
Or maybe they just abandoned the equipment and you can still use it but theres no jerks to tell you you cant park there? -
I know that when I fired up the internet....the WIFI showed "idle-air" as a network connection....and it did work.....I didn't bother to log on though....my aircard was on 3G at the time...much faster than the idle -air connection... -
Idle air was working in milan new mexico last week

You know what always bugged me about idleaire was how they misspelled air. It's not cute. It makes them look like idiots.
Idle Aire really is out of business. I just verified it through their website at idleaire.com
I love how they put the message up and then changed everything about them to past tense. ROFL. The site stillll reads like an ad even though they dont have anything to sell.
They must've abandoned the equipment. They've done this in the past, theres a Love's (forgot where) where every single parking space was idle aire...except it had been ripped out...everything was there except the control modules on the ends of the tubes. and some of the tubes and AC units. All abandoned.
I think if the truckstops where this equipment is located took over the service that would be really cool. But idle aire's payment system is only going to work for so long, and who knows if they'd cooperate with the truckstops over that. It'd require reprogramming the computer systems. wouldnt take much though, looks like its pretty much all HTML... -
