Im stumped with the current student. The backing isn’t getting any better. We have stopped several times to get some practice in. Today had a pick up at a place in Illinois. There was a football field of space in front of the docks. So after checking I told him he was on his own. The set up was ok, he was a little off but it’s a straight back no big deal. Well after that it sort of went down hill. At one point the back of the trailer was almost facing in the opposite direction of the docks. He finally reset up and brought it right in the middle of the dock he was supposed to hit and the dock next to it.
He tests on Monday for Cdl. Will let him practice all day on Sunday in Cville.

See you coulda had a student you didn't kick out the truck..... And back

Has he seen the my trucking skills videos on YouTube? They were a huge help to me in learning to back. He's got a game to go with the videos, but I've never used that.
And I'm not suggesting you're not a good trainer, I'm offering it as a suggestion to complement your efforts. -
I’ve suggested watching some videos, he said he has and does. The guy personality wise is a good guy. Just so fricking jittery. Keeps forgetting his right from left. Terrified of making a mistake. I’m not joking 30 second decisions before deciding which way to turn the wheel while backing. Lol half the time it’s the wrong way. Last week we were in Columbus at the back of the yard just practicing straight backs where he kept the truck rolling and would just turn the wheel one way then the other way to try build it in his head which way the trailer goes while turning wheel.
Good guy though so will keep working with him till it clicks.
they all can’t be superstars like @Nashville .
Lol just kidding!Nashville and Still undecided Thank this. -
@Nashville was going to be my trainee until Greg yanked him and gave me Crocs.
Nashville Thanks this. -
Oh far from a superstar, but do look forward to meeting your sir
MIT Thanks this. -
Didn’t tout my backing skills from last week. Had a delivery at Beverage Distributors on King Ave in Cleveland.
Got docks between the 2 bldgs. There was already a Millis truck next to the far wall. So had to back around him and get it in the other dock. What amazed me I was able to do it without ever having to touch the steering wheel. Pretty sure the trainee was close to having a heart attack though.Still undecided and Nashville Thank this. -
What a waste. Student tests on Monday for CDL. Had it set up or at least I thought I had it set up. For student to practice on Sunday. Get here to Cville school trucks are parked right in the middle of the cones . Weekend wasted…………
