Ran one. About 1999,00 when gas passed .99 cents it got expensive to run a gasser. Tandem, tandem at 80k plus gross. 4 mpg was doing great.

you're correct. I misspoke. I don't pay off FUEL prices, I pay off supply and demand.
But seriously, this idea actually made me think. Diesel packs about 25%-30% more energy per gallon than gas, so gas prices would have to be $3.92 (National diesel average is $5.61) today to make it worth it to use gas. interesting thought experiment. -
Please tell us what RISK or SKIN you have in the game. How much ($$$) equipment did you have to buy? What is your monthly fixed cost? What are your monthly variable costs? How much does the government take out of your operation's profitability every month?
Time. That's what you have in it... and not even the same amount of time the carrier has in each load, either. That's not risk, nor is it much skin.PiscesLuv, ProfessionalNoticer and CAXPT Thank this. -
So sell your truck and start a brokerage. After all, there's no risk in your eyes so not doing is is a BAD business decision; you're just passing up free money. lolJimmyTwoTimes Thanks this.

Don't you love how they think they can decide what the Carrier deserves according to their, "supply and demand" basis?! Their freight rots eventually and their customers drop them. If they're even direct with the customer at all that is.Rightlane76 and LtlAnonymous Thank this.

Yeah, if a broker is trying to set the market and not following the supply and demand, you are correct. Just like of the driver refuses to follow the supply and demand rates his wheels don't move. When you say go use the other guy enough because he is cheaper and doing the same service level you are, broker or trucker, it will be a disaster for your business.

I like TQL. I hauled many loads for them and I never got screwed rate wise. If the rate is too low I just go elsewhere, but it is possible to get a good rate from them. As far as them hating drivers, who cares? Let them hate us and they still gotta pay us!
JimmyTwoTimes Thanks this. -
