What type of license do you need to drive a Peterbilt super tag dump truck or dump trucks with 3 axels with gvwr of 65k in California?
My company paid for a class b a couple of years back and was wanting do go into construction and was interested in dump trucks. I’ve asked around and getting mixed responses. Some tell me it’s a class A due to the weight and some tell me it’s b because it’s a straight truck.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -

12400 + 34000 = 46400 on the straight truck with 2 rear axles if you have a third axle that's more weight you can carry.
The towed trailer can weigh 10,000 and believe me you dont want to pull more than you can stopAnother Canadian driver Thanks this. -
In Florida it is the - combined - weight of the truck and trailer. Once your over 26001 you need a class a.
So for a 18,000 pound F450 and a 8,000 pound lawn trailer would need a Cdl class a.
A 33000 pound dump would need a class a to tow a car dolly.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
26,000 lbs for the tractor and 10,000 lbs for the trailer. One pound more on either is cdl territory.
Btw, that F450 does not need a CDL.
Go lookup a flowchart if you don't believe me. Here is the one from Florida.
