Question regarding Van vs curtainside flatbed

Hey, Lavender, are you still on? I was looking at tautliners specifically for hay, so your comments got my attention.

Why not a tautliner for hay?

I used to pull flats and our company had a few curtain sides, the advantage to them is if you pull frieght thats has to be tarped and you make multiple stops its less manual labor than tarping and untarping.

One of the disadvantages is if your your loaded the full width of the trailer and the load shifts (as Lumber somtimes will do) you will play H*** getting the curtain to close properly.

 

You can get curtain sides that can take crane loads as long as the load isn't wider then the trailer.The curtain sides that I work with have curtain roofs that can slide back and forth just like the sides.
