So I have a question me and my wife and my dad was looking to get our cdl through swift and drive for them with leasing the truck any opinions on if it's a smart idea just starting out or anything just looking for some ideas that we should do let me know plz
-
Swift is a decent starter company but I wouldnt do any lease where a company is supplying the truck and dispatching you. Get a few years as a company driver under your belt and learn the industry. This way you have a better understanding of what lanes you want to run and what kindnof freight you want to haul. Then buy your truck outright or lease through a ryder or penske where you can chose where you lease the truck onto and can change companies if needed

No, they don't. They have 15,907 trucks and 15,000 drivers according to their own filings.
And they really should get something like this, because they cannot manage their trailer fleet. They have been banned from D/H at a local facility because they would constantly drop vans in the lot and pick up reefer loads. Before long, there were 18 vans on the property and no reefers to load, so they would send the driver out to find an empty reefer and bring it for a live load, but never send anyone to pick up the 18 vans left behind. The customer had to tell them to remove them or they would be towed and impounded and they are no longer allowed any D/H there.Opus Thanks this. -
Knight/swift combined have 20k
-
Still no. Knight files as having 3500 trucks and drivers, making the total between the two only 18,500 drivers. Impressive, but far behind the largest trucking company, UPS, with over 127,000 drivers and 134,000 trucks.Opus Thanks this.
