It sounds like running and shifting higher in the rpm range is ideal for these set ups. The same speed in a higher gear versus a lower gear might save your transmission.

Lugging a trans is hard on them. They don't like to be down at full torque all day, especially the older ones

I have a RTOO 14613 and that last split is pretty much just my empty gear

Why you say that ???.. You've dated the sisters yourself.. you know exactly what I'am saying
You can't have 1 screaming for attention while your dally'n around with other .And no matter how you slice it sooner or later your gonna have 1 in each hand when they meet on the porch.. the trick is to escort them off the porch with out either of them growling at you or each other
And the whole time your dating them you gota make sure neither of them get pissed off and catch a fever

Wait a minute… You mean 5x4 Spicers (or some variant of a twin stick transmission) is an option on a new truck? I was just searching “what was the last year twin stick transmissions were used in trucks”. It would seem there isn’t an answer to that question. Maybe there is a year they were no longer a standard issue item (or a year they were replaced by a modern 18 speed)? Anyway, this is news to me.

My dream is to find a late 70’s W900 with a 5x4 Spicer like my dad drove when I was a kid.

I can tell you this I known where there is a 94 Pete 379 that came new with a 6 & 4 with a Cat C model .As far as the last year I don’t know
As far doing what you want to do just remember you should do your research and make sure the box’s you put behind the motor can handle the torque other wise you wouldn’t be happy. The older box’s that were used alot in the 70s and even 80s were designed for 400 horse power and 16 or 1700 torque rates and even then you had to be careful cause you could burn a box up if you weren’t good on your timing when shifting
