After 22 months of Heavy Hauling in the Pac NW (Sumner), I am leaving Swift. This is not due to a blow up or such, I was just offered an hourly job that pays much more. What suprised me is the friendly attitude from my DM. I initally offered her 12 days notice, which she accepted. But due to freight slowdown (Feb) and the new companies eagerness to get me on board, we have agreed to an early release.

This cheerful, well-meaning attitude has raised my opinion of Swift a couple of notches. While I still will be on guard for DAC info, (mama only raised one fool and that's my older brother) I might be willing to return in a couple years if the new job doesn't work out.

Oh and the new job? 40 hr work weeks at 23 bucks an hour, 8-5 home nightly, overtime available, full benefits, holidays off and paid. :biggrin_2555:Yes I won the job lotto.....:biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519:

Good luck Palazon. Glad it was easy to leave Swift. Let us know if they ding your Dac. I drive for Swift on a dedicated account and we just had a driver leave. He called Friday and said he was turning in his truck Saturday. I will bet they really do his DAC bad.

Thank for all the well wishes! It really does me good to see how many people are happy for someone doing well.

The important part of the thread though is to not believe all the hype you get via scuttlebut on a company. Based upon all I had heard, I expected to be fired immeadiately upon giving notice. My DM was determined to keep me busy until my last day. The only reason we parted early was the post Christmas slowdown, IE: She was short loads and my new company (Mantec, I hate that name) was eager to get me started, so it benefitted both parties.

My previous statements hold true: DM's are humans. Treat them as such, and they should do the same (well, we can hope, right?).

    KCJ and JustSonny Thank this.
