I been wanting to get into pulling hazmat tanker but it seems like most of the good ones are on the east coast. I currently live in Vegas, I have 1.5yrs of experience under my belt and I'm looking to move on from this mega carrier soon. The only issue I have is I have an auto restriction on my license which seems to be hindering me as well.
Any hazmat tanker companies hiring on the west coast?

I worked for Quality Carriers / Quality Distribution for 3 years. All of the newer trucks have auto. I think our yard truck was a single stack Mack with a window in the back. It was stick. QC is now owned by CSX. I thought they were a good company for us company drivers. One thing about Tanker, every terminal seems to be it's own universe wearing the company t-shirt, unlike most dry van and reefer companies where the company is mostly a unified whole with various locations. The Terminal Manager decides most everything but company benefits for his location. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to get into tanker. They have a pretty good week-long training program that is designed to make you afraid of everything and give you a healthy fear of any HazMat reg violations. After that you will be assigned to a trainer for up to 10 days of practical training. It sucks wearing a thick rubber suit in hot weather. Food grade usually is more laid back. Just because it's HazMat does NOT mean you are guaranteed to make lot s more money, but no matter the pay the customers treat you like a human being, not a POW. That alone is reason enough to go into tanker. The schedules may not be as tight and "efficient" as dry van OTR. It's more important to be safe than to maximize revenue. The compoanies often make a good deal more revenue from each load so they don't need you to work 69.99999 hours per week. Expect dash cams and driver-facing cameras plus robot braking, etc.LilRedRidingHood and Zoltan1a Thank this.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I was going to go drive for Tri State Motor Transit (TSMT) but I really didn't want to drive teams with a random driver. -
