I have the comparatively cheap bumper from Iowa-80. It took out a buck last year with no damage other than a splash of poop.

I just went to the Micmac website and looked them over. It’s kinda hard to look them on the internet. What do y’all think of them vs. Aliarc. So like the general consensus is Herd is the Superior bumper, but with by far the biggest price tag.

Our local Pete dealer in Idaho Falls has at least 10 in stock. I think they handle Herd and Magnum. I don't know what the cost is.

Got to admit, that slam latch on the Herd looks pretty darn appealing!!

That said my truck come with this Ali Arc on it. It looks decently substantial imo. Heck, you seen it for yourself.. This is before I even got her home, notice the MN tag. Was told he paid $4k for it..

    So to lower it
    Pull center tow pin
Use tow pin to loosen 2 front screws then lower
    Herd slam latch seems better..

Think you'll get a nice product either choice?

I got the same one @singlescrewshaker has on his FLD. It came when I bought the truck. I’d reckon it has 12-15 years on it.

    Pros:
    - Tough; I have smashed a midsize doe @ 60 with this bumper and after I stopped and got out I would have never second guessed. There was barely any blood on the #### bumper, let alone a scratch or dent. Saved me a hood and grille.

    Cons:

    - The bushings have gone out on the pivot where it drops up or down, I’ve gone through two 3/4 inch bolts replacing that. I need to find a bushing to absorb some vibe. - Several areas have cracked. I had a local aluminum welder patch up several spots just in the 2.5 years I’ve had it.
    - The bolts to drop it are an obvious pain, especially after you let a pivot bushing wear down and then the bumper drops down and wears out a bolt in hole. Not the actual threads but just the hole the bolt goes through.
    - Well I believe this is a Canadian product and with the shipping issues I couldn’t get a replacement bolt or a bushing. I think shipping and also the age of my old bumper is not supported anymore.

    singlescrewshaker and cke Thank this.

Slam latch needs steady maintenance they wear out and rattle like crazy if you drive on rough roads .. I saw a guy driving down the road with his bumper down . I guess he couldn’t see it over the hood .. I know mine was hard to see unless I raised seat pretty high..

You are correct!!.. I hit a 200(ish) lbs doe at 74 mph and only damage was a smoked head light housing from her head .. I'll take that $400 repair over a new front end any day. I'm a big advocate for Herd.
