You did not steer me wrong my friend!
God Bless!
notarps4me Thanks this. -
Jim, you probably know all about Maverick's SEA scores and their ISS-D Recommendation but I didn't, so, I looked it up! Thumbs up in both areas...bears witness to what you've said about their professionalism. Keep up the good work and keep us posted!
notarps4me Thanks this. -
I was very impressed as well! I believe that they mean what they say!
They want to protect the public. As they said today, we could be driving next to anyone of our family members or their family members! We want everyone to make it home to their loved ones! -
Hey, oldnewbiegonnabe, when you gonna become just oldnewbie?
JustSonny Thanks this. -
I'll be in driving school (community college) this coming summer. At least, those are my plans right now. Things do change though! There's a chance I'll relocate to Maine also, so I might be looking for a school there. One way or another, I plan to be on the road in this new life before next September. Ya know, once I chop off the "gonnabe", then get a few years driving under my belt, I'll have to chop of the "newbie", leaving what I'll be at that time......just "Old"! Nah, 60 is the new 50, right? Good luck!Indiana RED Thanks this.

How 'bout 'newoldielovestobe' ?
As far as moving to Maine, you do know they only have a 2 week summer, right??
Seriously, explore who you might get on with, if you do move. There aren't many carriers who hire out of NE (freight goes in, but not much comes out).
Good luck with your plans.JustSonny and harlycharly55 Thank this. -
I am interested in hearing what ya say about Maverick. I have talked with the recruiter Paul at Maverick and they are in my top 2 hopefuls along with TMC. I'll be following you through your training and using your input to hopefully make a good decision. Both seem the be highly rated as far as newbies go.
I have also been reading through these forums for the past month or so and really appreciate all you experienced folk out there putting in your opinions. I start class on the 22nd of feb and am excited to begin my new career!!!JustSonny Thanks this. -
Good luck at orientation Jim and thanks for the posts! My old man leaves for Little Rock Friday (hopefully the buses run this week- he was supposed to leave last Friday).Boy that does sound like I'm glad he's gone -and that name was supposed to be a joke! Oh, and if you don't mind please keep us informed of the physical requirements and tests. I saw on here once that you have to do a situp from flat on your back.
-
When I went through there, in Mar. '08, I don't recall any situps, and I would definitely remember a flat on your back one, as it would have sent me home

They had a therapist check you back by poking and prodding, we did the progressive weight lifting thing, did a sort of aerobic step thing, up against a wall. There may have been a couple of other things done in the room. Then, we went out tho the 'barn'. There, we had to walk a 6' metal plate, about a foot wide, down and back, to test balance, get on the trailer and get up on a 5' high 'load', climb in and out of a truck cab using the 3 point of contact, and then the worst, get a full, rolled tarp up off the floor and onto the trailer, take it of and do it a second time.
It actually sounds a lot harder than it was, your husband will do fine.
Good luck to him, and you.
