While i do believe guys like Iron Maiden and upnorthwpg probably do make what they claim because i know what each company pays and they both work their butts off to make that. I don’t think that’s what the average company guys making based on the ads i see on indeed . it’s more like $300-$350 a day before taxes which is where iam at which is around $282 - $300 depending if i want to work 12 hrs and only get paid for 11.5

Company drivers are litterally making more then Owner operators right now. It's mind boggling. Owner operators are nothing more then a company driver with a truck and or maintence payments.
Magoo1968, EvertonP and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
99.9% of any job is regarded around seniority even when they say they don't go by seniority. It's human nature especially in any working environment that a Trucking Company that hires a new driver who even has 25 plus years experience driving. But the company has a driver/owner operator who has 4 years experience would give the better paid loads to that drivers because he knows their customers oppose the new driver with 25 plus years experience. They will tell you that there is no seniority at their company however dispatch will alway go with the guy they know 1st before the new one they don't. It's just a part of any business.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Really!! I strongly dissagree .If a company driver is making more money than an O/O that O/O is definetly doing something seriously wrong and should not be an O/O.Canadianhauler21, MartinFromBC, mudflap77 and 1 other person Thank this.

I have a different opinion and it's out of the O/O hands. Just take this thread for example. Company drivers making any were from 6k plus as a company driver. Which owner operator could afford to pay himself a salary of 6k plus a month?
The over head today is drowning most guys I have spoke with. From fuel to shop costs ect ect -
You’re not wrong.. BUT if you calculate the actual time doing work activities for an owner op vs a company driver , that profit margin starts to really shrink. A smart owner op has separate accounts and pays himself a paycheque SO actually a smart owner op should be making slightly more than a company driver.

This oneMartinFromBC and upnorthwpg Thank this.

Glad there are some people still making money, do u Run own authority or lease/contract on with a carrier ???EvertonP Thanks this.
-
There is always going to be a few exceptions to the norm. Take me for instance. I’ll gross over 200k this year as a company driver. I know owner ops that don’t touch that after expenses.
-
That's insane for a company driver. The majority of owner operators wouldn't even come close to that. Only guys with a shot are running they're own authorityEvertonP Thanks this.
