Glider is a truck sold new without the engine, transmission, or rear axles / suspension.
The owner would install there own drivetrain, usually from another truck they already owned, or a certain drivetrain setup they desired.
My W9 is a glider built in 1994, but titled as a 1995. Originally ordered by Sheppard, 1 of the steering gear manufacturers for larger trucks…..

As far as shipping a truck across the deep water, apparently it’s been done. If memory serves me, YoYo’s 359 is now in Australia….
MartinFromBC, Vampire and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
Didn't Jon Kelly, former owner of HHA buy that one?
MartinFromBC, Vampire and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
Jim skooled ya on the glider kit, I'll take a shot at cab overs..
This 1st poor soul is the poster child. Been posted here 1000's of time. But imagine one of them attempting to climb in or out of a coe...
Other factors also, but the US is in such a sue happy state, I'd bet ambulance chasing lawyers would have a field day with this alone about company putting drivers in unsafe equipment or some bs like that..
Swine hauler, homeskillet, jaffles and 3 others Thank this. -
What a sad state of affairs we are in!!!
MartinFromBC, Speedy356, Studebaker Hawk and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yet here I am wishing to add some, preferably brand new Volvos, but a kenny would also be fine.
singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
Nikola, I didn’t really look through the thread to see if anyone else posted it.
D.Tibbitt, singlescrewshaker and krupa530 Thank this. -
That picture of a Nikola truck in your post is one of the faked photos that Nikola put out trying to boost their stock price. The truck didn't have an engine in it and was coasting downhill when that picture was taken. It is heavily photoshopped.
The CEO is in serious trouble for the manipulation.singlescrewshaker and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
@singlescrewshaker wow, I mean wow, I can barely scroll the page down with those heavyweights aboard.
At what point does one push the plate away and say "OK I'm done"?Oxbow, singlescrewshaker and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
So yeah I grew up in the 70's/80's and to this day my all time favorite truck is the K100 Aerodyne. I had the opportunity to drive one for a brief moment and I was like a kid in a candy store. If I had one today I would want to work it and not just let it sit, but I've invested enough in my current ride and the plan is to make it to retirement in it.
But when you look back at the K100 Aerodyne the only negative thing I can think of was the doghouse. If they could have eliminated that (which they tried with the attached prototype pic) it would have been an ever cooler truck with a somewhat flat floor. I guess the plans were scrapped when cabovers became extinct.
But the interiors sure were sharp on those K100 Aero's back in the day.
North Pole Nightmare, Oxbow, Ruthless and 4 others Thank this.
