I never had any formal schooling on how to debate. But I did not see this to be a debate either.
You made a point of how strong you feel about non-speaking English at your work environment and that sign was your cherry on the cake.
You disagreed that the sign was hostile, yet you admitted that people were complaining about it.
I only hoped that I could be somehow explained by you - a schooled debater - about that sign being justified as something else but a sign of hostility.

h receiver you dealt with is just a contemptuous little snot.
The receiver I talked with the other day was just frustrated with a driver that couldn’t understand one word of direction to sign the pickup BOL.

He wasn’t short with the driver at all. But when he walked over to my truck shaking his head I asked what was wrong. Like you, he needed the BOL filled in legible..Initial, print name, signature and Carrier name. All he got was an identical scratch in each spot..

Showing contempt for someone, simply because they have an accent is just pure ignorance. Sometimes talking with someone with a strong accent I just asked them to speak slower so my pea brain can process what they are saying.
I been with a Peruvian woman for about 18 years and still there are times when I don’t understand sometimes it’s funny and other times frustrating.

 

I’ve been to a few shippers where it is required to communicate in English “for safety reasons”Coca~Cola is one of them.

 

I’m flatbed I figure price based on grossing $1166 a day after fuel. I go out for around a month then home for 2-3 weeks. Sometimes the rate is $6 for 500 miles or sometimes it’s $2.25 for 3000 miles. Goal is to average 1k after fuel for every day I’m gone from home. Run pretty hard so I reset after 6 days so I still want to get the $1k for my reset day.

 

I’d look for around $4500 to do that load.
