    And what you don't get is that average lane rates ARE HOW SHIPPERS DETERMINE RATES THEY WILL ACCEPT. Just what data do you think they have to determine what they ship for?

    DAT provides data to show historical lane rates, both contract and spot.

    Here's another rate for the 10 people reading this forum: (so you can see what another O/O would charge for a given lane)

    Charlotte, NC to Indianapolis, IN -> $1813.11

    Personally, I don't think you can calculate a rate. You just know what you know and are doing fine. That's why you don't care. You can't see that if the low ballers got wind they could charge more, they would. That's how behavior works. Monkey see, monkey do.

    You won’t ever get $1800 NC to to IN in todays standard dry van market. My guess is you’ll be blowing up my email hoping for $1200 at best.
