Art I also drove T-2's the 387's Brother truck. Put it to you this way I would take a Transtar 1 with a 318 Detroit 5X4 tranny Rubberblock Suspension with 2 window AC over either of the 387 or the T-2 again. I drove FLD's Century's Columbias and Classics and they all were rattle free and rode like a dream. Unlike all the Petes that left me sitting a reapir shops all over the nation. I paid my dues hauled grain and anything else that a would fit in my bosses trailers in the State of IL for 3 freaking years I drove equipment that was ancient for pulling grain hauled cattle hauled HOGS to Joslin IL also ran nursery stocks in and out of Chicago for 3 years. I pulled wrenches on my own equipment when the shops were to lazy to fix things that needed to be fix. Ever changed a U-joint because the shop is to lazy to want to do it I have. Ever had to help replace a clutch because yours is cooked however the mechainc on duty has no clue were to freaking begin I did my own in 1 day. I did what ever the boss asked me to for 3 years and when I had that accident in 1996 3 months before I was to turn 21 I was out the freaking door like I was roadkill. Do not say I do not know what I am talking about. I have the freaking T-shirt when it comes to working on trucks that are PIECES OF #### and PETERBILT IS AT THE TOP OF THE LIST.

Here is why Petes are always so shiny when they see rain they short out 40% of the time and stop running. Why beacuse if that hood cracks it leads right to the electrical wiring harness on a 379 and into the FUSE BOX.

Petes all they are is an OVERPRICED PIECE OF CRAP. My C120 never left me stranded unlike my 379 at least my Freightliner never had the freaking EXHAUST FALL THE HELL OFF THE SIDE OF THE CAB AT 65 MPH.

I think I see your point now. It seems you have been driving used trucks locally/regionally. Judging by fallen exhaust remark - some of them were seriously beaten up. Driving & fixing them in the same time - impressive struggle...

Another thing that comes to mind... I got my Pete new. No abuse. No someone elses mistakes, lazines, greed or stupidity involved. Should I get it used? Who knows if would liked it... Abused or just trouble-rig can put whole trucker family into misery... Mine 387 make us money, that all it comes to afterall... So I like it

The reason TMC got rid of the 387's was due to weight. The 387's are pretty heavy, I'm sure they ordered them in a flat top it wouldn't be so bad. They even got rid of the T800's for some reason I don't know. If you ask me TMC should have stuck with the T800's and ditched Peterbilt altogether.

I had bought an 02 Freightliner century in 2007 and that thing lived in the shop. I just got rid of that POS.

    I agree.

Neither for me. Have you looked at any Pete 379 EXHDs? If I were you thats the way i would go. We haul grain locally and i love the 379. Just somthing for you to think about and look at. There real nice inside and rides real good. Never drove a columbia or the 389 so i dont know how to compare them to the 379.

That 379 WAS BRAND FREAKING NEW had around 6K miles on it when here is all that happened Memorial day weekend of 1998 Lost the Dr Side Exhaust while doing 65 on the PA pike. My father stopped us we were running team at the time. He sent in the Breakdown macro since the Exhaust fumes would have gotten into the bunk area. The while sitteng there the Hubcab for the Drivers side Steer came off and we noticed together that Bearing was dry as a Bone. At my post trip inspection 3 hours earlier it was fine when I pulled the hubcap full of oil. Then to make things even better When the hook came to get us when we unhooked from the trailer we then saw a freaking crack in the rear suspension mount were the stabilizer bar mounts. All this on a NEW truck. So now do you see WHY I HATE PETES. To me they ride worse than a Cabover and I drove a cabover that had a rubberblock I will swear that even it rode better than a 379 with a 300 WB. All pete has is a NAME nothing else. When I got back into a FLD after leaving that company that was all petes I swore I had died and went to heaven, Then they pulled me ut and gave me a T-2 I HATED THAT POS.

Then I got a C120 I was in heaven again. Then I got to try a Columbia even better.

We just got are 379 and i have nothing but good things to say about it. Dont matter what brand it is everything will need worked on eventually. If i were you i would just go with what you want and dont ask for other peoples opinion, everyone likes what they drive cause that is what they drive and that has whats worked for them. The best thing for you to do is go there and test drive both of them and just see which one suits you better and which one that you like the most.
