yea for having the I-15 run straight through the heart of the city, vegas has never seemed very big on the trucking industry. i just went to the nearest TA stop (couple miles from my house) with my aunt from denver and while i thought it was some sort of semi-wonderland, she kept saying that it was too small compared to what's in denver. granted i'm pretty sure the stops on the southern n northern outskirts of town are bigger and more important since they're on the outskirts, so we'll be going to the one by the base and speedway on friday.

my CDL will be out of colorado since that's the school i'm going to. which means i'd have to change it again if i wanted to use my sissy's address and be considered hire-able out of houston. at least i think that's the case. i'm not sure about all that, i'm not even sure how to phrase it into a question. :biggrin_25511:

IF i wanted to stay in vegas. i really don't, but would if this place was on par with denver or houston by industry-standards. it's just that i've tried to get out of here before, twice, and unforeseen circumstances (for another day) have always brought me back to vegas. so the "stuck in vegas" mentality that overcomes degenerate gambling-tourists is settling in on me as well. the concept of actually embracing this town wore off long ago. the only good thing about vegas is the college basketball team. U-N-L-V GO! FIGHT!! WIN!!! blah.

It used to be alot different. The cost of living was very low and no state income tax. But you had to find a company that paid CA wages to make it big. My first job there was with Anderson and Sons pulling triples from there to Reno to Salt Lake then back and it paid crap. And of course coming back was not down I-15 because we had a stop in Ely. But hyw 318 was fun but you never wanted to breakdown because it's very lonely out there except for a few space creatures.

TX is the second worst freight area just behind florida. I live 2 hours from houston. I very regularily run empty 400 miles to get a load out of the house. Most companies won't hire drivers out of TX

vegas is another one like Florida and Texas. Everything goes in... NOTHING comes out.

think Denver, or anyplace along I40 or I80
