Nobody in business for themselves is going to talk to their competition about business and money... simple as that. You would be stupid to do so... there is lots of people on here I consider my friends I have a lot of respect for them.... But I don't ever expect them to tell me how much they are running for, or who they are working with... or even what area of the country they are in...and Vice versa from them to me...

My parents were born in the 1940s, no idea what generation that is named, but they believed in a good beating if I was even thought to maybe have done something wrong.
Got many a beating for no reason, and a few i deserved, left my parents home at a young age, can't say that I was close to my parents, and swore to be a better dad myself, than mine was.
But I sure didn't let my daughter run wild, or not be held accountable.
@D.Tibbitt you seem like a fine young man, keep on doing what you are doing!

Personally, I think guys have pumped themselves up on this forum and IF they shared what they ACTUALLY do, they would be embarrassed with what they really are. So, instead, they attack to keep the peeing contest going. If they shared, they'd have to admit they aren't as great and mighty as they try to live up to here.

All I hear is WE don't share!!! Ok, then stop replying.

You just called everyone who disagrees with you a liar. That's insulting.

I have it out for you? No, not at all. If I "had it out for you" you'd be gone.
I disagree with most of what you say but most of the people responding to your thread do also.
If you're looking for blind validation of your ideas or a participation trophy just for showing up there are other forums available to you.
If you need information and vetting for an idea this is the place to be. You won't always like the answers you get but they're honest and based on real world experience.
Besides, you're a constant source of entertainment and right now we can use a good laugh. Thank you for that.

Your definition of a God fearing person.....sounds good to me! When I talk about consistency, I just think in business you'll have days that are good and bad. I don't have to tell y'all that for real. I'm just not so sure open season transparency will necessarily help. I just don't think it's one size fits all. So many owners have so many different needs and desires of what they want to get out of the industry. Like it or not, this ish is cutthroat can be. Everybody wants the same thing, but it's only so much available. I think if I were an owner, I'd try not to pigeon hole myself. I'd follow where the money is, at that moment. I hear of so many guys that only want to run one region or on lane, and that's OK as long as it pays, but when it dries up, and it will at some point, what do you do next? I say you gotta move around. It just seems to cyclical to really say what a lane should pay.

Go find 1 post of mine in this thread kicking someone while they are down!

Why have i posted in here, that's simple, to make it clear that you are the problem for blaming brokers needlessly, and also get some laughs from your trying to get people to give you their confidential information.
I've helped many people out over the years, too many to count, just as many people have helped me.
But only a fool would give a stranger their personal info.
There is huge difference between being helpful, and gullible.

Then there is your pricing system you claim is good, and yet when you should be asking people questions to plug into it, to get a true fair haul rate, you don't.

If I tried to run a van at your rates, behind my set up for heavy haul offroad tri drives, I would be in bankruptcy court before long. So while you claim to know what rates to charge, those numbers only work for you, nobody else, but then you say that you can give others rates to haul for to, which is price fixing us into the poor house.

My trucks are also not geared toward running a bazillion MPH on some straight multi lane hwy/interstate.

Just 2 days ago I hauled equipment off a high mountain ledge, the last 8 to 10 miles of the drive took about an hour to cover, same on the way back out. Then both directions sitting for a while waiting for the ferry to arrive, dropping the jeep and the booster off at the intersection, and reconnecting them on the way out before back down the main gravel road, but impossible to get it around the switch backs on the mountain.
Barely got the low bed around the switch backs.

My escorts stayed at the main road and waited for us to return.
I had Melissa follow me up and back, but as she has less experience, and I like her, she pulled a much more sensible load, so she didn't die rolling off the edge to her death.

I also made sure she had a dozer on, and clear instructions to follow me no closer than a half mile back, and if she spun out on the way up, or lost control on the way down to steer into the uphill side bank.
A dozer was the ideal piece for my rookie who has only driven truck 5 years, because the blade is the widest thing, but not really very wide at just 13' across. Its also not very heavy at only 69,000 lbs, so easy to control. The blade she can ram into the uphill bank on the goat trail we were on.
Dozers are incredibly strong, thus hard to damage. No expensive heads to damage easily like a buncher, or processor, and also a lot lighter.
It wasn't by accident that I had her take a dozer, chain it down 3 times more than legally required, and told her 5 times to ram the blade into the bank if she got scared, or couldn't get it under control.
Melissa is calm and cool, and in control, and if I didn't trust her, wouldn't have told her to jump in a truck and follow me.

When we got off the goat trail, and back to the main line logging road, we met up with our escorts, and put my booster and jeep back on, so i was back to 11 axles. Then its still a slow drive from there to the ferry, this is no road for running 65mph, we did speed up to 35 mph in sections of it though.

My point is this, you can't use miles to price hauls, especially when you're not asking what the person drives, and the road conditions.
Even the google drive times are not even close.
All around me is hwy reconstruction, and what google says is 5 hours, could realistically be 15 hours, and that is in a pickup, not a semi.
I've lost count of the trips to McBride in the past 6 or 7 weeks, due to construction and pipelines, that typically 7 hour drive, is now 13, and its not as bad as other places.
Pulling numbers out of thin air is ridiculous, but even more ridiculous is blaming others, especially brokers, who have nothing to do with your company operations. If you don't like brokers, simply do not use them, they don't force you to.

When was the last time a broker held a gun to your head, and made you pull a load for them?

Maybe I am strange, but don't even have any curiosity about what you make.
If I knew the exact amount every person on this forum, has made each month, over the last 10 years, it would not change anything in my life at all.
I've been doing this a long long time, seen many go broke, seen many get rich, I just don't concern myself with them at all.
I pluck away daily, doing my own thing, and stay out of their company business.
If asked for tips, I'll help to a certain extent, but not to where it could be harmful to my company.
A driver needs a hand fixing their truck, learning how to put on tire chains, properly chain down a piece of equipment, get a tug because they are stuck, I'm happy to help.
Ask me how to be a stronger competitor, and try to run me out of business, I will just smile at you, and walk away chuckling.

    This I agree with 100%.

You start a thread bashing how others run their companies.
    Then ask for personal information.
But when you get people disagreeing with you, and for the most part disagreeing politely, you turned to personal attacks, and calling us names.
Even call us a clique, liars, and more.
Then accuse @REO6205 of being a bad moderator, and made numerous personal attacks against him.
I've read every single post he has made in this thread, and not once did he cross the line, or make it a personal attack, or get into petty name calling.
His level of professionalism has been stellar.

You are trying to pretend that you took the high road, when in reality it is you who has slung the personal attacks against most of us.

You are also still trying to blame brokers, and never have I figured out why.

Since you obviously hate them, sever all ties to brokers, and have a happy life.

Ps. It was also funny that you threatened us with physical violence by saying that we would be in big trouble if we ever met in person.

Personally if i was a moderator that would have earned you a year long ban. But much more so, it was funny, because I would bet that 3/4 of those posting in this thread, could pound you out cold without breaking a sweat.
