You're a blessed man.

I love my wife a lot, and enjoy when she rides with me occasionally.
She doesn't have a class 1 license, so doesn't drive, but its fun having her ride with me, but yes we still eat in restaurants.
I may be 20 years older than she is, but she is definitely the more mature one.

 

I would not necessarily say good food exists in TruckStops. If it has a kid behind a counter that says, do you want fires with that, or you pay for it at the same counter as you grab your smokes to me that's the worst food. If you sit down and have a waiter or waitress, well at least you get free coffee refills with breakfast.

You have to go somewhere other than Pilot, or T/A. There are still a lot of places out there. And guess what? ELDs don't keep anyone from stopping to eat. I have stopped at Boise Stage Stop, Dysart's, Midway, and a lot of other places in the middle of the day without losing a minute of drive time. I have stopped in the middle of the day for a shower at Little America before.

 

Update:
I made the post quoted above on August 22, 2022. I was back at the Petro in Oak Grove, MO on Christmas Eve of 2022. And I found out that unfortunately KC's Best Baby Back Ribs BBQ restaurant has gone out of business. I have been meaning to make this update since then, but I always forgot when I was logged onto this message board...until now.

the proliferation of taco / food trucks that are actually tasty is really my go to now.

 

Not at a truck stop, but Panda South has excellent Chinese food. Their orange chicken is outstanding.

Drop your trailer across the street from the Motel 6 on Twin View Blvd in Redding and bobtail there.

Food is served quickly and they aren't busy, although they should be.
