Be a shortage of crown and pinion gears next, as everyone tries to gear their trucks down.
Mine are already geared to cruise at 50 to 55 mph.

So im curious, anyone want to speculate what this will do to rates and the economy at large?
Prognosticating a 65 mph limit, what % decide to hang it up?
I assume most people are all talk, so maybe 10% reduction in drivers at most, that should drop capacity, and then layered on top of that, we sjould expect slower limits to drop capacity as well, but by how much? Certain lanes will be more affected than others. (Long runs, midwest)
20%? Capacity reduction? lets say people experience maybe 10% mpg gains from this, will that lower fuel prices? Or will the required capacity be enough to re-offset this?
Parking is already at a premium, this wont reduce that need, what happens there?
Only positive thing i see is that the more this kind of bs goes on, the more valuable team driving is (parking not neccessary, and it takes longer to drive the same miles)
Rates SHOULD go up, but we already have supply chain issues, this should hurt that even more, has anyone thought about that side? (Obviously not fmcsa, but...)Last edited: Oct 21, 2022

How about this, nobody gets it done, except for the few bootlickers that always bend over anyway, but just don't get it done. Screw'em
But wait, what will happen to all of those speeding truck lawyer commercials?? They are going to lose a lot of business!
How about this scenario....
Get caught speeding 5mph over....$1,000 fine, plus points, and a 6 month speed limiter on your truck(or any purchased replacement)
2nd offensive, 5mph over, $2,500 fine, more points, 1 year speed limiter on vehicle(or any purchased replacement)
3rd offense, lose your CDL for 1 year, 4th offense, done.
If they want to get tough, then get tough, on those who deserve it. Just like they have ankle bracelets and those things drunks have to blow in to even start their car, a device can be made so that the speed limiter cannot be tampered with on an offenders truck.TexasRiverRat, Banker, God prefers Diesels and 3 others Thank this. -

hell half the trucking groups on Facebook are filled with idiots who think this administration is the best.
Doubt there will be riots for 55mph, if there is I’m pretty sure they will be labeled as maga truckers. They need the reason to label us that. After all one of the few common sense anti establishment strongholds left.God prefers Diesels, Another Canadian driver, Eldiablo and 3 others Thank this.
