I imagine I will keep on trucking. I don’t agree with it, and it will do little to decrease accidents. It will have a small effect on capacity which will cause rates to rise. For a while anyways. Much the same way ELD’s did.
The long and short of it is, I am middle aged and have drove a truck and built a business over the last 22 years. I’ve been away from being a mechanic too long to go back to that. The thought of starting a new career at this age is off putting. Plus it won’t provide the lifestyle my family and I have become accustomed to. Especially not start over at the bottom.
in short. I’m too young to quit and too old to start over. So I guess I will be riding along at 65. Which I already do most of the time.bzinger, JoeyJunk and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -

I haven’t seen mention of it here yet, but the ATA is pushing for 70mph if you have adaptive cruise and collision avoidance like their member companies have and they want 65mph for everyone else. Seems the ATA only wants a level playing field when it comes to ELD’s I guess.

Lots and lots of posts, how long does it take for a truck to pass another if there’s only 1/2 to 1 mph difference between the two? Now you are limited to 62 -65 on a 70 or 80 mph road and of course , most 4 wheelers are already exceeding the posted limits by 10 to 15 mph. Just think how well you will be liked , you will be #1 as they go by giving you the bird, then they’ll be no question of your status! Been there - done that! 95% of the STUPID that I have been a witness to has been drivers of 4-wheelers . Seems as if anyone is driving posted speed limit or to conditions of the road for safety, you’re a-hole and in their way. They are clueless to how much trucks pay in road taxes ,license and tolls in order to maintain roads so they can zip along. Laws are already on the books for exceeding posted speeds , I thought that was a “ limiter” . Enforcement of existing laws governing speed for all , instead of adding more woe on “just the trucks “ , I think would be the better solution. How many times have you seen 4- wheelers dart and swarp from lane to lane trying to get one more car length ahead or looks as if a row is hooked together because, they leave no room for braking? Talk about crucified, should they implement the crash avoidance systems on the 4- wheelers as some of the mega carriers use, the ones responsible for that ,better hide!
