After I put a new used d12 engine in my volvo 780 I had the Egr welded shut. I do have a check engine light on but I am not sure if it is because the egr was welded shut or because of something alse.

Ok I did a flatbed run 500 miles and the truck is pulling fine, I didn't notice a mayor loss of power nor any difference on fuel, pulled some 48000 of lumber and the only thing that I do have is that hissing noise when I step in the gas. I don't have any engine light on, I did notice a little exhaust smell inside the cab when my front heather is on, so is got to be a clamp that I know didn't tight all the way. So far so good

this week I could not put in the new software in but where it says "password" i put in 1234, an it worked and it switched me to a new screen. And what i saw was that it said, TRANSMISSION mid130 pid168 fmi4,BRAKES mid136 sid 254 fmi8,TEMPERATURE,mid 140 pid 110 fmi9,SPEED mid 144 pid 84 fmi2,ECU CLIMATIC,mid 146 sid5 fmi4,ECU LIGTH mid 216 sid 254 fmi2, now the truth is i don't really know what that means, but in the mornings when i start it up, it sounded like a sneeze with up an down rpm's(clack, clack, clack,!!!! sound like the old cat model A) and the cruse control doesn't work neither does the j brakes.but However through out the day it works just fine.the sound goin!!!!!hhmmmm!!!!

If you don't have cruise nor engine brake pull up your clutch pedal up with the tip of your feet and try to engage the cruise when idle, sometimes the sheer weight of the pedal or adjustment of the clutch put a little pressure on the switch and voids you e-brake and cruise. The codes that is showing you right now are active or inactive? Because if they are inactive you can reset then.
    Good luck buddy

the turbo will make a sound that could sound like a hissing when you step on the gas becuase the turbo is spooling up, thats normal, if you really feel like its not the turbo making the sound then get a spray bottle filled with soap/water- dawn works really good, have someone start the truck when its cold and rev the rpm's, wheile they are doing that spray the exhaust system on the engine if there is a leak you will get s bubbles, works while on the intake system also, if you had the egr valve off its possible that one of those clamps was set right when you put it back on causing a leak, it happens alot.
