Landstar didnt make that choice. You got what they ("they" meaning the broker, not Landstar corporate) could get from the receiver. They dont get a cut of it and they dont determine what it is. If its someone they do a lot of stuff with then they have more bargaining power than a 1 off. And what happened to you WILL play a part in any future contracts (if any) with that receiver.

Yeah. It was Landstar. They were the broker. So there's that. They, the broker who was in that case Landstar said we could deliver the load Tuesday. We couldn't. Matter of fact. It took nearly all day Wednesday to get unloaded. Probably broker it out cause none of their own trucks wanted to take that cheap freight. Only reason my dispatch got it was thought it could deliver Tuesday. Thats what the agent for Landstar told my dispatch.

You are only seeing 1 side of it. Heres an example (a REAL one):
I had a load I have taken several times out of this shipper that goes to auto-repair shops and car dealers. Ive hauled maybe a dozen or more in the past. Took this load to Cleveland. Most of the time, the shipper has an install team that they send in to unload and set it up, but this place said they could do it themselves. Well, they didnt have the manpower or the equipment to do it, so after 2-3 hours they "claimed" something was damaged and they were rejecting the load.

So at this point I told the broker they were rejecting it, and also told them there was no damage and most likely they were rejecting it because they couldnt handle it. An hour and a half later, an install team was on site, unloaded me and I was on my way, but I did miss my home load (same broker). #### happens, its trucking. I dont take any more of those loads unless they have an install team waiting. Lesson learned. I got 250 for the 4 hours I was there, but nothing for the missed load that I ended up deadheading out of there because I couldnt find anything going to my next load.

So, just because they werent ready for you, doesnt mean the broker lied to you (although I have had that happen as well). Could very well be the shipper lied to them. Or the receiver. Or the lady that cleans bathrooms for that matter...

Now I have to believe that conversation went something like this:
Shipper to customer: We hear there is a problem. We can have an installation team there in an hour for $xxx.00 OR we can have the stuff sent back. If we find no damage when we inspect it on its return you will be charged freight charges both ways, and back again. If you have a problem with this, I suggest you get your item elsewhere....
Customer: uhh, ok. Install team sounds good....

Landstarve is a tough place. The corporate office will give you no help.

All they do in their various departments is process information. And they struggle mightily to do that about half the time.

Some of the agents are just slime ( on a good day ). So you want everything spelled out in writing.

it’s a double edged sword. I like that they never call me other than I need to take a random.
Problem with that is that heavy haul dept should be calling me instead.
The other side of that sword is the will not call you if a agent charges money back, they just take it from your next settlement.

Well, is it difficult to find good paying loads? I'd imagine getting my own loads would seem like being on wall street. As in not much going on outside of 8-5 Monday through Friday.

Subjective. Our Operations Manager doesn't have much trouble.

But if you look around the forum, you'll these guys with the big trucks and the big houses and properties pulling open deck.

I've been living in my Cascadia(s) for 6 years with my cat.
