Have you ever seen a starter bolt? There is no way you’re breaking it in half with a half in ratchet. You’ll pull the threads out of the flywheel housing first. And if you manage that you’re one big dumb somebeetch.

As far as parts go. There are fleet prides, truck pros and independent parts dealers everywhere. Keep looking for excuses of why something can’t be done instead of looking for solutions of how to get it done.
That’s the difference between truck drivers and truckers.

    A. How do you know the person idling when it's 60-65 didn't go to bed when it was sunny and 80 outside? Sun will turn the cab into an oven. Not everybody is on the same sleep schedule and you can't expect someone to wake up and shut off the truck just because the temp dropped.

    B. If awake, they could be doing stuff in the truck like cooking or video gaming. I can't speak for all equipment, but if I'm gaming on my high end laptop my truck will be hard to start after just 3 hours. Leaving it on without gaming will only allow around 8-9 hours before the truck struggles to start. It's not a battery issue, the truck can go over 24 hours without the laptop plugged in.

i changed my starter in the parking lot of the flying j last year in montana in near 0 degree weather... where were you at ?? ceratintly werent helping me... as well as all the other #### i have fixed at the truckstops and on the side of the road....if you are buying all your parts from fleet prides and dealers.. you are getting ### raped on prices...

is the starter the only system that breaks on a truck?? theres is plenty of #### that can and will break off if you touch it with a wrench, especially if you run 100% of the time in the rust belt.... i question your decision as a business owner to drop all your work for a week to spend 2 hours to change something out... because that 2 hours needed to fix the #### will effect the rest of the week and into next week if you are running local freight... when you could just simply keep the truck running and wait until the weekend to get to it at the house... and if i break #### while repairing... great news, i will be at the house where i have access to transportation and an entire shed full of spare parts as well as a multiple cases of beer...your move senior

What does that have to do with a truck? Especially a day cab?

Umm, the feller said he was gonna work on it when he gets home. Easier to idle and fix at the shop with all the tools and a can of beer. Man, you are grouchy!
