Pepsi is supposed to start taking delivery of the 500-mile range trucks in Dec with Frito Lay to follow shortly after.

Nikola has class 8 trucks in production. Sure only 93 by Sept 2022, but they are producing them (slowly) and not just prototypes.

Anyone thinking of buying one should probably wait to see how many years the battery banks last before replacement is needed. And then see what the street cost of doing so. Calculate the typical miles and do the math. Also calculating cost of charging energy including lost charging efficiency and storage over time as the batteries wear.

Electric is a band-aid. A short-term "solution" until the true alternative is ready. I suspect that the real solution for widespread application is going to be hydrogen. The technology is proven, it's just a cost and infrastructure issue now. True electric not only has the same cost and infrastructure issues (though a little further along) but also current limits on battery technology and scarcity of crucial materials. It would take a true battery breakthrough, in capacity and materials, to truly make electric the primary long-term solution. Not that it can't happen, but my money's on hydrogen.
