Did a few short shuttle runs with a Peterbilt electric unit.
Basically it was a 579 with batteries. This was a prototype unit. Think just about everyone did a turn in the drivers seat for something.

Electric is quiet, quiet is scary. Definitely don't buy the first year on the line. Look at all the other vehicles with first year problems and recalls.

Well to get a rebuild of a current emissions motor is about 40k + another 15k+ for the emissions... Doesnt make batteries seem so expensive

I wonder how common it would be to replace the battery pack anyway.
Replacing a control board in the battery pack, individual cells in the battery pack, or something like that I can easily see. To replace the actual whole battery pack will probably be rare.
Of course only time will tell though.

I'd be willing to bet the inframe will be cheaper. Especially if production ramps up and they start hitting us with the rare Earth mineral shortage excuses to produce the batteries. Some geniuses from our school district decided to place an order for electric busses and the battery replacement cost was brought up. Dont remember the exact amount but it was astronomical and they don't seem to have a very long life span

I am only going off what some people are saying that batteries cost so much money... They forget what it costs to inframe or out of frame a modern motor right now... I dont claim to be an engineer and know anything about electric or battery technology.. But i think in the long run it will be a cheaper and a better alternative, purely from a maintenace stand point, compared to modern emission systems... This is just my opinion. You re right time will tell

Im sure when diesel enginers were invented , there was something about them that made the switch away from steam engines a hard sell... Technology improves over time... Computers used to cost thousands and thousands of dollars... Now you can pick one up for a couple hundred and it out performs anything made 10 years ago or older... Why should one think this technology is never going to improve or become more cost effective, when everything else ever invented has ?

The post office won’t even use electric vehicles
And they are the best people at throwing away money I’ve ever seen.

The post office still uses the vehicles with the iron duke general motors four cylinder from the 80s , with a three speed auto trans because they know the four speed overdrive ones don’t last long .

the fedgov is shoving electric vehicles down our throats but they refuse to use
EVs even when they can buy them with money they stole At the point of a gun from taxpayers who are stupid enough to still work for a living instead of get on some welfare program and cash checks.

The problem i have is them being forced upon us before the technology is there which it isn't. I'm pretty sure trucking companies and the railroads never had diesel engines rammed down there throat
