They do not want us there, if they could randomly revoke our licenses and impound our trucks for no other reason than they felt like it they would. If the fault line cracked and an earthquake opened up a hole that swallowed the entire state, I do not think I would cry.

No they don't. The 1st CHP you saw didn't want to deal with you, the 2nd didn't have anything better to do.

OK that is where you went wrong. Should have just stuck with 80. Even if you hit a closure on 80 they don't last long. In the end it would have been faster and no violation. Sometimes the longer route is the faster one.

In the northern end of the state there are a lot of roads that are restricted. A GPS won't always give you accurate information.

Try the link cited below. When you have time look up more CalTrans and CHP sites. There's a lot of good information available.

As a rough rule of thumb, most of the Interstate Highways are open to any length. State highways, not so much. And the CHP watches, as you found out.

Pretty much anywhere you go if it's a length restricted road it's posted.

If you decide to run it then you accept the consequences.

Sometimes those consequences can come with some wtf switchbacks where you're going to be summoning the highway patrol, cause now you're stuck blocking the highway.

Usually it's some local talent that gets truckers on those. You justified his existence, whilst proving truckers have total disregard for everyone's safety.
