Not to mention the fact the batteries are shaping up to be a huge nightmare to try and extinguish if there's a fire.

When Texas had that crazy ice storm last year and truck stops ran out of fuel I threw a 150 gal tank in my pickup and drove to Ozona to rescue some reefers. Just imagine if everything was electric.

You never get innovation by holding a gun to somebodies head and telling them to invent things, the innovation will come when the market dictates it, which we are a long ways away from. They are definitely putting the cart before the horse here. If people believe in the climate nonsense then they are already gone and not worth saving. There is a huge shell game going on here and we are not designed to come out on top of it. I how ever will be happily living in the woods fighting the drones and the robots and eating dear and squirrels

I read that if we continue to mine copper at the pace of today it will take 197 years to mine enough copper to replace all cars.
But they do not plan on replacing all cars.
They will build fleets and you will rent a ride if they decide you are a loyal party member.jason6541, Another Canadian driver, nredfor88 and 6 others Thank this. -

I just can’t get over this BS that electric vehicles are better for the environment. I can see where EVs could someday be made practical, but don’t buy into the hoax that you are saving the planet by doing so. It’s a big lie that EVs are better for the environment than ICE vehicles.
This whole oil price fiasco was created to help push EVs to market. I could say a lot more on this but this isn’t the politics forum.olddog_newtricks, SteveScott, Another Canadian driver and 2 others Thank this. -
After more than 140yrs of battery development, they’re still not viable, especially considering the energy and toxicity to produce current batteries. But, let’s keep turning a blind eye, as we’re steadily being fed the “green” lie.m16ty, Another Canadian driver and Eldiablo Thank this. -
All the rare mineral used in phones, all the phones, all the brain caner they were meant to give to users; where did all that go? Buried and onto the next fear?
Fossil fuel motors are what 20 to 30% efficient. Humanity has been making them for a long time and have not progressed there either. Superchargers, turbos, nitrous, common rail are all ways to create more power but not really any more efficient.
I imagine the question was asked and echo'd when motors emerged, where is all the oil, steel, aluminum, copper, rubber, plastics coming from? You have to dig up huge amounts of earth to source these minerals. But a Horse, it just eats the grass. I would not at all be surprised if the notion rare mineral used in batteries is not far from diamonds are rare. They too are dug up by enslaved children. Some truth to it but more likely propaganda by power brokers or media baron as it suits their agenda. If diamonds were not controlled they would be worth as much as pebbles in the car park. As mentioned in another thread, peak oil, land fill space, YK2 bug, etc all crises in humanities march but we marched on.
Not saying EVs are the savour, the greatest thing ever, or will be the solution. Just saying their emergence and evolution is enivitable. If you have driven a Tesla, and can for-see charge stations becoming as plentiful as gas stations then the future is exciting. Most horse and cart owners probably could not imagine the network of gas stations and future possibilities when cars emerged, but players in the market sure could. Virtually every manufacture on the planet is developing EVs. Now they can see a future most can't, or they have all put their money car phones.
To be honest I see it as way for players in the oil and mineral markets to become just more wealthier and powerful. Its just another market too them. You don't have renewables without oil and minerals, the rest is just noise.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
