There is a place I went with a tanker that a guy pulled my red line loose and put a lock on it and didn't say a word to me about it. I still had air going to the trailer and when he pulled it loose the glad hand seal blew off and went onto a ditch. Good thing I carry several new ones in my tool box. His co-worker said he almost crapped his pants when it happened and he doesn't do that anymore. He has the driver disconnect it now. Lubrizol in Pasadena Texas.

Ha ha yeah I have three sets of keys at all times so no matter. Here is one set and then I plug in the second set if need be.JoeyJunk, TheLoadOut, Grumppy and 1 other person Thank this.

I always laugh at the service techs... "I need your key."
Dude, do you really think that's the only key I've got? -
They should not start loading/unloading until brakes are set and wheels chockedJoeyJunk Thanks this.

Likely tired of drivers lying to them. "Yes, I have the brakes set."
Although I will say the place I went to Friday was good. They ask the driver to remove the line and they put the lock on the gladhand receiver on the trailer. -
Seems to depend on the particular Walmart. I've been to one or two that asked for the keys. I always gave them a spare set.JoeyJunk, TheLoadOut and drh72 Thank this.

According to OSHA they are not allowed to start until they confirm the trailer is wheel chocked or locked in by a dock locking device with the spring brakes set.JoeyJunk Thanks this.

I usually get asked, mainly because most of the dock guys want to know why I have no air lines to begin with (Cali connects),
JoeyJunk, TheLoadOut and Siinman Thank this. -
Well when you set you tractor brakes those are the maxi's anyway so all brakes are locked on, as to the dock workers touching your air lines that is a no no unless they have your permission, its just like a police officer does not have the right to enter your cab or even set foot on your truck without your permission without probable cause. I know many years ago there was a safety issue raised a very good one when one truck driver thought he was good to go, only to find out there was still a fork lift in the actual trailer, you can only imagine the kind of panic that set off, as a result of this all trucks and trailers had to have wheel chocks put under wheels and you had to personally hand the truck keys to the fork lift operator, which were only handed back to you when the trailer was loaded and the paper work was completed ready to go.Last edited: Nov 28, 2022
TheLoadOut Thanks this. -
You are 100% wrong and your advice is going to cause you or others drama.
The problem with youtube is everyone thinks that they are an attorney now. You need to learn the difference between reasonable suspicion and probable cause. Even then you have several jurisdictions at play now and the feds win 99% of the time.jbatmick Thanks this.
