Which would seem logical. But the adoption of anything EV is closely tied to the hysteria of climate change.
Hybrids put out some level of carbon, which doesn't qualify in the fantasy of "zero emissions"
Very few logical policies result from hysteria.
Developing energy policy according to the rants of a spoiled teenage girl from Sweden is equally ludicrious.

This I agree with. We own 2 EVs 1 we bout used it only has a range of 75mi but it is perfect for a running around town car. 2nd 1 we bought off our daughter when she was moving out of state and too much trouble to take with her. It gets 150mi range. That one charges in 30 mins so not too bad for trips. Really anything longer we will use one of our ICE vehicles. Though I have to say we have not bought 1 dollar of gas in the 5 months which is nice. Only problem I have with the whole debate is let the consumers drive the change not by Gov moniesm16ty, RJM1953, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

Have a look at the Sodium Ion batteries. Much more reliable, much cheaper and cleaner, (sodium is everywhere) and they get better with age.
I'm sure this technology will be buried because we DONT have to buy it from China......RJM1953, Cdemars316 and AModelCat Thank this. -
Of course. Have to keep the peons spending their money.Elroythekid Thanks this.

How do you pay road use taxes?

Actually my Time x watch winds itself as I move my hands and arms, it has kept perfect time. In fact more accurate than the expensive boulva I got as a gift many years latter. It has also never needed a battery change and never will.
So let's talk about that advancement considering that 1000 dollar watch today is probably closer to 10k. -
It's possible I'm being obtuse but that's a different debate...
Nat gas upper limit efficiency is 57%.
(100*.57=57)
Transmission average loss is 8%
(57*.92=52)
Electric Vehicle energy loss 25%
(52*.75=39)
Upper limit of diesel engine efficiency...~45%
We're already in the same backyard of efficiency... without factoring in total inputs... which to you may be obtuse...JoeyJunk and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
We don't YET. Don't worry they are trying to decide which way to charge that. We won't mind though because if you use the roads you should payAnother Canadian driver and Oxbow Thank this.

I was just curious. They'll have to come with something pretty quick.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
