I fully understand doing those as autos/slap shift. the mechanical linkage would be a work of art that could not be successfully maintained by the stereotypical automotive techs nor the typical owners.
And a +1 for that archaic reference of V8 Fiero.
Mini is bringing back stick shifts and will teach you how to use them

And it will pull the front wheels off the ground . it’s faster than either one of his corvettes in a straight line or in a corner .
Now he doesn’t have the latest $100k corvette , but the V8 Fiero is scary fast .Blu_Ogre Thanks this. -
My old 67 F100 was 3 in the tree with 6 in a row to make it go. Kinda miss that truck….Concorde Thanks this. -

My last standard shift pickup.
Everything I own today is standard shift, except my pickup…. Nobody washes my pickup anymore, must be the transmission

years
Ago someone rode
With me in my 71 Bronco and said they didn’t know how I didn’t get tired of the three speed on the column
And I told em that after driving a 13 speed for a week or two that a three speed WAS an automatic to meD.Tibbitt and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
Wish you were close by about 15 years ago! Told a guy about owning a blue 72 Bronco with 3 speed on the column, he told me I was crazy that he’d never heard of such a thing on a Bronco lol…. -
the automatic wasn’t available till 69?
Or something like that. neither was power steering .
I learned how to drive in a 67 beetle and a 63 Mercury Meteor
driving a car with the three in the tree with no power steering and manual drum brakes on all four corners , a bench seat with no seat belts , forced you to be an attentive driver .PaulMinternational and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
My green Bronco was a 69, it was automatic / V8 so I’d say you’re close on the years.
My 1967 F100 was 3 in the tree with 6 in a row to make it go. Only power it had was in your arms and legs lol.
I put chains on that old Ford every winter to get up and down the mountain. When I was about to turn 20 I was the passenger in the back of a 4 door Chevy chevette, the wreck left me with a busted lung and bruised kidneys as well as a mouth full of glass.
I ended up buying a 1979 Chevy Scottsdale 4x4. Power everything lol, about throwed myself through the windshield first time I drove it….PaulMinternational Thanks this. -
I still think the salesman #### his pants because he walked funny after the test ride.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.
