    Hi Jerry,

a lot of truckers seem to go for the Wilson Antenna`s with the steel whips why beats the hell out of me as the coil on the Antenna needs to be high as top loaded Antenna`s like the Wilson FGT versions, Firesticks, ect are top loaded & are easy to SWR with the help of the tuning tip at the top of the Antenna`s also the bonus with the Wilson FGT Antenna`s is the little cable at the base of the Antenna`s what a lot of users seem to cut off keep the cable attached & if there is a time a user struggles with the SWR connect the Cable at base of the Antenna to the mount the Antenna is attached to as it will help to lower the SWR the Wilson FGT & Firesticks are great Antenna`s but the Wilson has better Power gain than any top loaded Antenna`s i will leave a link for you all about the Results even a 2 foot Wilson FGT on the roof of the cab would be prefect with out getting damaged & will still receive & transmit as good as a FGT 4 test results about the top loaded Antenna`s,

When the antenna lists X watts, that means the antenna can be used with an amplifier that outputs up to X watts. That does not have anything to do with how much power you transmit. If you are not using an amplifier, that X watt antenna is not doing anything more than an inexpensive Firestick or Francis, and could actually be less effective.
