I went thru a level one yesterday and everything was fine or so I thought then the DOT officer says, Everything was fine except there is not enough Reflective tape on the trailer. I have to admit, this is the first time I have ever received a ticket for the reflective tape on the trailer. I'm still looking for the regulations for the reflective tape.
A ridiculous ticket

Sounds to me like this was not an inspection but rather a revenue generating session.

Have a trailer across a dark road and the side marker lights are inoperative. You'll be glad you have reflective tape on the trailer. I have seen three fatal collisions that involved a trailer across the roadway on a dark, no street light roadway in the country. All three looked like Jackie Gleason's car from Smokey and the Bandit. However, the driver's and passengers never saw it coming. Well, I guess, they never made a statement. One fella......well I know what he was doing at his last moment. As his right index finger was shoved in his nose. We found his decapitated head in the back seat, finger still in nose along with his case of Budweiser. -
Was the case of Bud still unopened? I agree with you, BTW.JustSonny Thanks this.

Ahhh........NO! half missing. but according to his blood alcohol content, it must have been the second case. -
I don't envy you officers out there with the accident scenes that you have to respond to, I saw a driver who rolled her pickup a couple of years ago get thrown from the truck only to have the top of her head removed by the guard rail over in Nevada.

Where at in NV?

With our driving being done on mostly surface streets I really like the tape. The more people see me the better.

I once got a ticket for no reflective tape on my mudflaps.......... when I was pulling a trailer. Figure that one out.
