He literally said "I don't know why they don't just delete my posts instead of locking the thread down". If it was deleted I am sure someone just respected his wishes.

The lesson here? Don't play power games if you don't have any power. This stopped being about his lease awhile ago.

Well what happened with your lease? I am guessing you didn't complete it, right ? There is no doubt some companies have a fully achievable lease purchase program but those are few and far between. They're referred to as fleece purchase for a reason.

Nothing "happened". I chose to get out because that spot market that everyone on here talking about give you so much freedom and is the only way to be a O/O has absolute trash rates right now and I refused pretend I was "successful" because I had "my own truck" while in fact making company driver pay while taking on all the liability and having to work that dang hard. And this would have happened regardless if I had my "own" truck or was leasing or if I had a truck payment. I think most people that sit here and say one is better than the other hasn't done any of them. Business people realize there is advantages/disadvantages to every decision you make.

And yes I agree that most leases are trash but there is always a exception to the rule. Just because something seems impossible doesn't mean somebody hasn't made it work for them. The fact that his thread got nuked tells me there is some inherent bias against lease drivers on here which I just find odd considering we're all grown ### men on here and can make our own decisions.

I can relate to the trash rates That's why I left the company I first leased on to, all they really had was broker freight. But in a lease situation of course its going to be difficult to make it. You're paying what $700 a week for the truck, they hit you for mandatory maintenance deduction to an account that you may be able to access and may not be. My particular carrier, maintenance was optional and because of the way they worded it "at carrier discretion" relating to my use of my maintenance fund, I didn't opt in to it. I personally wouldn't lease because at the end of the day if you have enough to make the balloon payment, you're still going to be probably paying more than going and buying a used truck outright or financed by a private lender. My truck payment is very affordable in my opinion so I have options, I just went on to another carrier.

I 100% agree spot market is garbage right now. Was there no carrier you found that had a customer base? I am sure plenty of folks will knock me for that too, but I would rather run and bring home 3-5k a week than be like I was at last carrier. Having to turn down a weekend run because I am going to dump what revenue I have coming as pay into the fuel tank to run that other low paying spot market load.
