    Here is my situation:
I have about 2 years of otr experience but I have no verifiable experience in the past 1 1/2 years. Are there any companies that would hire me in this economy or am I wasting my time.

By the way my record is spotless for the past three years, which I believe is how far most companies check.

Are there any companies that hire drivers with no recent experience? Everything I read makes me think I'm going to get screwed no matter which way I turn. Schneider won't hire me back but I'm pretty open beyond that. I just need a job that pays decent money so I can get back on the road.

Best you can do is start calling companies. Different companies have different lengths of time as to how much experience you need, and different ideas as to what constitutes recent.

This is just an idea call some companys you would like to work for and ask them if they have fleet owners ask for their numbers and call them if you have a good DMV record they might hire you. Good luck

Check with Landstar, Greatwide, MCT to see about fleet owners. I'd check to see if you're within hiring area of US Xpress. Also, call Sunco carriers out of lakeland FL.

Only problem with that is even though you are working for a fleet owner you still have to meet the carriers qualifications with most companies

it is tough, as Ive been in that situation recently. I checked craigslist routinely for the largest area closest to me which was dallas. There was a number of small otr companies looking, none cared that I had been off the road for a few years, all experience was verifiable though, as you are I am accident ticket free, that helps. There are some options out there, Werner will take you if you can get 30 days recent experience, but if you can get that why go to werner.

Swift will hire you, but you'll have to go out with a trainer for a few weeks. You won't have to go back to school since you already have your CDL.
