Some bi// about OOIDA. Can you do a better job lobbying for o/o? If so I’ll send you some $. If not, they’re the best we have. Very possible, if it wasn’t for OOIDA there probably wouldn’t be any o/o, for there would be zero pushback to abolish the o/o from the industry.

I dont think most even know ooida is a lobby. They just think its a group they join to get some kind of freebies.

I agree with you, but it could be worse. We could already be speed limited, driving with collision avoidance, and be company drivers for an ata. Lately, they did push for the split sleeper amendment. I use that often. I also try to do my part, even though I feel beaten down at times. One foot in front the other.

They sued several companies that were ripping off their O/Os in many ways such as illegal chargebacks and refusing to return escrow monies. The end result is they were able to get today's "Truth in Leasing" regulations passed into law. They took on the Tennessee DOT and made them stop their harassment of truckers. I think @Chinatown can elaborate more on this. They just about the only ones that will go up against the ATA and the Safety Nazis. Without OOIDA calling our attention to things like pending new rulemakings from the FMCSA, most of us wouldn't know anything about the proposed new rules until after they get rammed down our throats.
The little bit that they collect from annual dues is also tax deductible for O/Os.

I am an OOIDA member but I wish they would drop all this broker transparency nonsense they have been pushing lately. We should want less government and regulation in the industry, not more. Speed limiters, transponders that broadcast all the trucks info, and mandatory automatic braking systems should be the main focus imo.
