This hot shot is new to us. We’ve actually ran our numbers 2 years this coming march but recently hired his brother and uncle to do hot shotting. One has a cdl and one does not so it’s been a lot of learning on our end as to what is acceptable and what is not, I guess eventually we get it all squared away. But like I said his brother been driving less than 2 months and has been inspected 3 times. The crazy thing is he has all brand new equipment. But we were warned hot shots are messed with more often and we’ve also see it with our own eyes.

It’s been crazy out here with the fuel and spot market rates but I will say our brother has been getting loads all day for 2.00-2.30 a miles and doesn’t have near the expense we do.
Lite bug Thanks this. -
Thru the scales with both pieces of equipment being new, out of States let’s see him. Once I was stopped on a Friday going thru and on a Monday coming back by the same guy. I said you just stopped on Friday? He said did I inspect you ? Yes you did. Let me see the sheet? He seen it and said “ get out of here “ as if I was bothering him.pumpkinishere Thanks this.

$2-2.30 a mile doesn't go nearly as far as it used to with $5+ fuel, but sure, with a lightweight and low overhead operation you can still do okay. There are guys running $2/mi RV's one way and getting by, but that's not an apples to apples comparison. RV's you don't need your own trailer or your own insurance or authority.pumpkinishere Thanks this.
