ok, so its cool that youv been able to get home as often as you did, i hope you made a decen living? and benifits? not that they are any better working for a bigger company, but 6 days out for 1 day is common, actually, a lot of companies require you to stay out for a min of 14 days, give or take a day...

Yes, that is irregualr route carriers, I drove only to one place and back. I knew when I'd be home and for how long. -
thats awesome.... but in reality, 99.99999% of the time you end up working for a company thats not as good as yours for someone just starting out...
i do no what your talking about... i too had it made when i first started with watkins, i was every weekend, and home one night a week if my route ran past the house,
3-4 weeks really is not that long. if you stay out for a solid 5 weeks you can get a good week off, and depending where our drivers live its possiable to plan your trip right where you can pass through home often... -
Yes, I can handle it, and my wife as well. We had many conversations about it and decided it was the thing to do...As S2B also said, 1 day for every 6 out, I can get home earlier if I decided to....and this is a company that takes care of it's employees so it's a good fit for me for me and my family.
Thanks S2B for helping explain...that was a perfect illustration of when I said they take care of the employees....we watch out for each other like family!!soon2betrucking Thanks this. -
Wait until you actually start working for them to make that assessment. I'm not saying they are or are not, I'm just saying work a few months for them, then see how they are.

I suppose that is a valid point, but I should clarify myself on what I said previously....Every contact I have had with the company, from the recruiters (Hi Roxy!) to the safety manager to one of the VP's all the way to the drivers I've met on here and talked with personally, they have done their very best to help me out in ANY way possible, and that in itself is a good fit for me and my family....It is correct that I can't answer what it will be like when I get out there yet, but I am sure it will be a positive experience.

Best of luck to you! Keep us posted on your ventures.Warpdrvr Thanks this.

Will do!!
There may be an interlude here for a few days until I find out if I passed the HPE test and then they will let me know I'm on my way. As with most companies, they pay for a Greyhound ticket, but I don't want to do 30 hours on a bus, so I'm gonna fly if I can find a flight and they will reimburse the cost of a bus ticket.... -
Hey Warp, tell me about Sandy! I talked to her the other day....seems nice, seems like a professional!
Warpdrvr Thanks this. -
6 days out and 1 in seems very common. most larger companies also seem to want you out at least 21 days from what i have noticed. congrats warpd. cant wait to hear all of your itneresting stories...
Warpdrvr Thanks this.
