The only thing I'm aware of is the Feds are floating ideas amongst themselves about possible changes because of lawsuits constantly being filed from organizations claiming that those truckers are dog tired and shouldn't be allowed to drive so much because they drive those big ol' noisy 18 wheelers all around this here country and terrorize the poor little 4 wheelers constantly and never ending and I'm sure they would still cry if we could only drive/work 8 hours a day total. The worse possible change would be from driving 11 hours back down to 10 and eliminating the 34 reset. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

And the rules and regulations will be made by people that don't know the 5th wheel from the steering axle. I think that we should have never messed with the HOS. If it ain't broke don't fix it. But this gives security to those in government who would be on welfare if they were not working for the government.

I would LIKE to see that any break over 1-2 hours pauses your 14 hour clock. Make it possible for a driver who is tired unexpectedly a chance to take a short break without worrying so much about the 14 hour clock.

There were good and bad in both systems...personally i liked the 5on/5off option in the old way...love the 34 restart option in the new...don't sleep that long since i am not a teenager anymore, so the 10 hour break sucks!
If they really want to understand "Hours of Service"...they should go spend a few hours at a brothel...those girls understand efficiency in "service(ing)"! And they also work 365-24-7, just like us truckers!lonewolf4ad and JustSonny Thank this. -
You people need to read the article more carefully . The article has nothing to do with the driving rules or restart . It only deals with "supporting documentation " .

If you are worried about changes in HOS though.
Read articles about it.
They have already had 2 listening meetings on changes.
The FMCSA has comment pages open, also on meeting days you can be part of the meeting by being there, or calling in, or on the internet where it is streaming.
If you do not comment and add your 2 cents, then you cannot complain when they make changes you do not like.
This is your chance.
You will not get another.
Whatever you like, dislike, or would like to see changed on the HOS. They are looking for comments. And they seem to really be listening to the drivers.
Everything is open. They are starting from scratch.
So HOS may not even be close to what they are now when they are done.lonewolf4ad, JustSonny and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
Couldn't agree more.... makes no sense. If I'm tired and need to take a short nap, I can't because of the 14 hour rule !!!JustSonny Thanks this.
-
You should of commented that to FMCSA during one of the 4 listening sessions.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
I take a 1 hour nap almost daily during my 14, I can only drive 11 and that leaves 2 for the less important stuff. Works for me, may not for others.
