In the long run, the only thing I'll be changing is...gulp... I'm probably going to order... tarps.
I said it.Rideandrepair, Big Road Skateboard, Oxbow and 3 others Thank this. -
8’ drops no doubt……..Rideandrepair and Oxbow Thank this.

1x8', 2x 10' we have pipe loads that go to Texas on the step decks. I haven't done one yet, no tarps, and they require 10' drops... but they pay really well so if I'm gonna order....Rideandrepair, Long FLD, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this.

I'm just chillin right now. Look for something local ish now and then, but not putting a huge amount of effort into it. Basically taking winter mostly off.
Did get a call from a broker last week offering up a load to a place that gets a bit too sporty in the cold months for my tastes, for less money than an identical load I ran for them back in September. Politely declined.Rideandrepair, Constant Learner and Siinman Thank this. -
Plan on getting out , it's been good but the OTR lifestyle has run its course. Not much local runs where I live so next big Auction I'm probably dropping truck and take a local job . Almost all the lanes I run are now lowballed to death . I honestly don't think it's worth it now but some young hungry bucks might like the grind it out lifestyle. Been fun .

Meat not neccessary? HAHRideandrepair and REO6205 Thank this.

I said, "the fancier cuts of meat". Good old high fat content hamburger is still selling like it always has. You know what I'm talking about...start with a patty eight inches across and fry it until the remaining meat is the size and texture of a hockey puck swimming in two inches of grease.
You have to remember, this is California. Not just California but the heart of the Emerald Triangle where several generations at once are stuck in the ethos of the 60s and don't eat meat. A lot of them are vegetarians or vegans. Or so they claim. I can't tell the difference in the two.
Funny thing, when we have our yearly fall barbecue and do up a steer and a couple of pigs and invite all the people we do business with or rub shoulders with in almost any capacity, a bunch of them always show up. They've been known to gnaw on a beef rib or a pork chop, too. We figure they're just reminding themselves how vile meat is...over and over again.

According to someone I won't name a broker would always pay less than give a trusted carrier a load that the broker can set it and forget.
The one steady run we've done on and off for 3 years. The price hasn't dropped since march-ish. Another one we acquired close to 2 months ago that moves 2-3 times a week and another that we've done since late spring-early summer at the same rate. And another 2 that move sporadic. That one's tits cuz I reload right at the same place. Wish I did that all the time
They don't hit the board unless we can't cover them. Some people still like reliable service and good communication.
No clicky clicky bookie bookie here. Maybe only a handful of timesRideandrepair, Siinman, Cat sdp and 4 others Thank this.
