My neice's husband has been on the road since october 2009 has not been home at all. He went to cdl school could'nt get a job with no experience. This company took him has been told if he asked to go home at all they will keep him home for 3 or 4 months. Does this make any sense? Is this part of the training? She there are weeks he only gets a 53 dollar paycheck put into his account

lil, it seems there is a lot missing from this story. No one stays on the road for 4+ months at a time unless they are willing to. There is no company in this country that can force that kind of time on the road. He can come home if he wants, and can go back out whenever he chooses to, or until the company has more freight for him to haul.
As far as a $53 check, there are several that possibly could have effected the amount of money he made/brought home. Advances, freight availability, timely turnaround on BOL's and other paperwork. It's possible that a lot of this is the fault of the driver.
However, giving you the benefit of the doubt, I suggest that he move to a company like JB Hunt, or Swift that will hire new recruits with minimal experience. These companies will also get him home anywhere from 7 to 21 days, depending on what he is hired for. If the company he is working for is indeed causing these issues then he can leave them just as fast as he found them. There are too many companies that hire rookies for him to have to deal with this. read the forum here. There are loads of companies he can apply for.Texas-Nana, simplyred1962 and groovemachine Thank this. -
what is the name of this company and location? The rest of us might be looking and this isn't a bottom feeder I'd want to apply to!
And staying out under duress? That idiot company can KMA if they told me that crap with that kind of pay!simplyred1962 and FriedTater Thank this. -
Does your niece's husband have any balls what so ever? Somebody tried to do that to me the first thing they would get is a punch on the nose, and then the fur would really start to fly.
How about some self respect and acting like a man. $53 dollar paycheck? Hell, you could make that in one day at McDonald's and be home every night. Common sense??? -
Sure i can bring home 53 dollars a week after i stayed in my other lovers house somewhere in the next state...lol..then i will tell my wife aaaaa i wont be home yet..here is 53 bucks i made this week...If he is serious he needs to changed company...really fast...Good Luck!

There is something definitely hinkey about this story. Among other things, there is not a company in the world that does not want to see their truck (physically look at it, check it over) for 4+ months. I am not about to cast aspersions but, a call to the company to verify the drivers story is in order. If I were married you couldn't keep me on the road for four months as long as I had feet.
simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
I agree ... this isn't the whole story!

I'm leaning towards what BigMac said about the advances.
If you're out 4 straight months and are pulling $50/week? He's taking big advances out. -
Strike ONE) He may be tied to them for the deceptive trucking school "LOAN REPAYMENT SCHEDULE" that some company's are scamming drivers into signing. STRIKE TWO) On top of that he's probably in a leased truck that demands high payments to be paid
STRIKE THREE) They got him waiting in the Adirondacks waiting for the next load coming out of there. They need someone to sit there in Buffalo and no one wants to just sit there making no money. But he can't quit yet. That loan is choking him. They threatened a blacklisted DAC & He loves his mid 90's Peterbilt they got him in. He's gonna own that baby someday....relax....times will get better, baby...They promised him
