Hello to all, I know that I maybe should have introduced myself sooner, but I have been reading so much. I am 53 years old, and fixing to turn my world up side down, again. I retired from th US Army after Twenty years. I was, a combat medic and a nurse (it's OK to giggle, male nurse in the 70's). After I got out, one of the doc's that I got an opportunity to work with, offered me a job in his office. That has ended for me due to a crooked office manager that didn't bother to pay corporate taxes. I have had a class b for years, because of another opportunity to work for a mobile health services. We would go into areas that couldn't afford health care. We Even had Xray on board. Then hospital budget cuts. End Mobile unit. I live in what used to be a heavy textile area, then enter NAFTA, and hello Mexico. With three Jr collages putting out grads every other year. Health care employees are everywhere. So I have been excepted to roadmaster, in Dunn, NC. So enter a new life. I would like to thank you all for the info. If you know about this school, please give me a clue.

Hi Frenchie. Welcome to the forum and thanks for introducing yourself. I dropped out of nursing school a year and a half ago to get my cdl. Even then there were not many male nurses in my classes, but I will say, the ones we had were darn good at it. Good luck with your new career!

Welcome to the forum Frenchie! You've had an interesting life and one full of service to others. For that, we are in your debt, thank you! As far as those who would "giggle" about being a male nurse....well, not to worry, those folks live back up off the road, don't take the paper, and spend their days strummin' a banjo on the front porch. Thanks for coming on board with us! Best of luck to you and don't be a stranger!kickin chicken, Baack and simplyred1962 Thank this.

Thanks , and you are right about the banjo part. Once had a little boy that we were seeing in the clinic. when I introduced myself, he started laughing and didn't stop till he left. Parents didn't say a thing. To think I used to jump out of good airplanes for that.
JustSonny and simplyred1962 Thank this. -

Thanks to all. I sure do feel at home. Well my amazing journey is about to start. I will be going to Fort Worth, Starting school on th 1st. (any one going that way?) I will be working for PAM after school, I know, I should pay my own, but when you haven't had a raise in five years, that's kinda hard. They are going to pay for the school, and I owe one year. I'll keep you posted.

Hey Frenchie! the key of making money on the road is to be nice to your dispatcher. They can make you or brake you. Be patchent on waiting for loads, trip plan, trip plan were you are going. Make sure you don't get to much out of rout, they don't like that. Work on backing your truck and trailer into tight wholes. They don't teach you this in truck school. Beware of ware you park your truck, even if your looking at your map. Somtimes if you try to park on side of the road it cannot withstand the weight of the truck and you will sink like lead in the assfault. Don't let these hot shot truck drivers push you around. Be safe big time.

Why pay for the paper when you can read it for free on the internet ? Don't tell me the neighbors are complaining about my banjo again .
JustSonny Thanks this.
